How many needles does the 5400SO have?

• The 5400SO has 2 needles, but you can remove either of the 2 needles depending on the stitch width (bite) required, to use as a 1-needle machine.

What does a “mock stitch” mean?

• Using 2-needles, the 5400SO produces a stitch that looks like a mock stitch on both sides of the seam, as opposed to a 2-needle, 5 thread true safety stitch machine.

What is the 5400SO primarily used for?

• The 5400SO is used for covering the edge of fabric as a 3-thread stitch or joining 2-plys of material as a 3-thread or a 4-thread mock stitch serger.

This allows for more torque (power), smoother and quieter operation and the eliminates the belt which traditionally connects the motor to the sewing head.
